Waste Kompost Radio Residency

17 – 21 October 2022
New Echo System, Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, Venezia.

From 17 to 21 October Alan Alpenfelt, Daniela Allocca and Alberto Barberis will be in residence in the Pro Helvetia Venezia New Eco System programme, Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi – in collaboration with Helicotrema Festival Audio.

WRK invites artists, musicians and people to contribute to the radio station by donating to the Waste Office sonic waste disposed of during the editing and composition processes, as well as everyday waste such as voice messages.

The sonic waste is processed through specially developed/written algorithms, which gradually decompose the sound information over a set time in analogy to the biological and chemical reactions that turn organic material into compost.

At the Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, WKR will present the process of sound composting of collected waste in the form of a two-hour listening installation.
Afterwards, WKR will move on to a phase in which it will implement the system over a calendar year in the form of a radio that is powered by its community.
